France wins the world cup again

Exactly 20 years after their first world cup victory on home soil,France again wins the world cup with a coach, whom was one of the 1998 winners in Russia

The final was special with Kylian Mbappe showing much mettle for his age with a goal to his name  and winning the Young player award. The 19 year old is the second teenager, only after Pele in 1958 to score in a world cup finals. His goal put the nail in the coffin for any hopes of a Croatian comeback in a match that ended 4-2. Curious to note is that Mbappe wasn't even born when France last won the world cup.

France caught a lucky break early with a header by Manduzkic into Subacic net, which was an ill fated attempt to keep the ball out of reach from the prowling French attackers.

The second goal came from a penalty taken by Greizmann which was awarded via the virtually assisted referee due to a hand ball by Perisic whom had only just scored to bring the game level at 1-1
Paul Pogba showed his dexterity by scoring the third goal with his left foot, right after his attempt with the right foot had just bounced off the Croatian body-lined defence.

Mandzukic's lone hustle paid off when he converted an error by the French goalkeeper to bring the score to 4-2 the final tally.

Congrats to the French and their team and the Croats. They leave this world cup with their heads held high.

France breaks Belgian hearts at Saint Peterburg

Saint Petersburg's stadium  witnessed one of the most keenly contested matches in the world cup, as France stops Belgium's run towards the world cup final. The Belgian team did a good job of holding onto to the ball, but it was the quick pace of the French team which saw Mbappe, Pogba, Oliver Giroud, Tolisso that put much pressure on Thibaut Courtois on every counter attack. The Belgian team had more than 60% ball possession, but the 51st minute header that resulted in the lone goal of the match from Samuel Umtiti was to be the heart wrenching arrow to Belgian hopes of an appearance in the world cup finals. The Belgians lose with the heads held high and will paly the loser of the England -Croatia match in the 3 rd place match. .........................................
