Obinna Onunkwo (CEO Purple Capital) joins the Advisory board of The Lagos Retail Festival

The office was in a festive mood as the steering committee relayed the news that Obinna Onunkwo had joined the advisory board of the Lagos Retail Festival.

Mr Obinna is the managing partner at Purple Capital partners limited, financiers of the Maryland mall, Bishopgate estate and the Art Hotel. He is a seasoned securities specialist with a rich background in investment banking, asset management, equities research and trading and has over the years being lead fund manager in many mergers, acquisitions, private equity investments, equity raising and valuations through the various capacities in which he has served.

He has worked with Guardian Express Bank Plc, Spring Capital Markets Limited, Kedari Capital Limited. Alternative Capital Partners overseeing assets over # 20bilion naira

He is on the Board of Law Union & Rock Insurance Plc. He holds an MBA from Lagos Business School and a bachelor degree in Economics.

France breaks Belgian hearts at Saint Peterburg

Saint Petersburg's stadium witnessed one of the most keenly contested matches in the world cup, as France stops Belgium's run towards the world cup final. The Belgian team did a good job of holding onto to the ball, but it was the quick pace of the French team which saw Mbappe, Pogba, Oliver Giroud, Tolisso that put much pressure on Thibaut Courtois on every counter attack. The Belgian team had more than 60% ball possession, but the 51st minute header that resulted in the lone goal of the match from Samuel Umtiti was to be the heart wrenching arrow to Belgian hopes of an appearance in the world cup finals.
